Midwich employees raise £27,000 for mental health charity, Norfolk and Waveney Mind

To coincide with World Kindness Day, multi-award-winning global tech company Midwich, headquartered in Diss, Norfolk, is delighted to announce their  staff have raised £27,000 for mental health charity, Norfolk and Waveney Mind.

Midwich handed over the donation following two years of supporting their local mental health charity, Norfolk and Waveney Mind. Midwich is also delighted to announce that they have taken the decision to extend their partnership with the charity for a further year until December 2021.

More than one in four people in the UK experience mental health issues at some point and 104 people sadly take their own lives each week. This number is expected to increase during 2020 as a direct result of the pandemic. The need for good quality mental health support, advice and information is vital.

Midwich announced their two-year partnership with Norfolk and Waveney Mind in March 2019. Since then, Midwich employees have fundraised through a number of different initiatives including; the annual quiz, Xmas raffle and ‘10 Million Steps for Mind Challenge’ which launched on World Mental Health Day (10th October) and ended today on World Kindness Day. Midwich has volunteered more than 100 hours to the Mind charity shop based in Diss town centre and donated more than 315kg of worthwhile items.

“We would like to thank all the staff at Midwich for the fantastic ways in which they have fundraised for us. We are so grateful to the support of the local community to help us continue to deliver vital mental health services across the whole of Norfolk and Waveney.”

Lesa Orford, HR Manager, Midwich UK & Ireland (pictured) comments:

“We are extremely proud to be able to raise money for Norfolk and Waveney Mind, they do an incredible job in offering a range of mental health services in our local communities, especially at this time of need. The work that our charity team puts into organising fundraising events is amazing and we’d also like to thank all our staff for supporting these events and donating so generously. A huge thank you to everyone involved.

Due to COVID-19, we’ve had to cancel or reschedule a large number of our successful fundraising events in 2020, so we’re delighted to extend the partnership with Norfolk and Waveney Mind for a further year. This gives us a great opportunity to raise more funds for this excellent and important charity.”

Midwich is nearly halfway to reaching their aim of exceeding the £45,000 raised for their previous charity partner, Nelson’s Journey.
