Work smarter with AI: Microsoft Copilot & Midwich

AI has landed in the workplace, and it is driving a huge cultural shift in how we work, collaborate and conduct business, guided by AI powerhouses like Microsoft.

From streamlining workflows to tangibly driving business growth, AI adoption shows no sign of slowing down. According to the latest research from McKinsey & Company, over 70% of employees surveyed believe that within two years, generative AI will change 30% or more of their work.

Rather than worrying that AI will steal their livelihoods, employees are ready to embrace the potential of AI.

Leading the charge is Microsoft Copilot, bringing a suite of AI tools into the Microsoft 365 ecosystem. In this blog, we explore the ways to work smarter with Microsoft Copilot and Midwich, the strategic distribution partner of Microsoft.

Empowering the everyday with effortless integrations

Microsoft Copilot enhances collaboration in meetings to cut meeting admin and support dynamic collaborations. Summarising key takeaways, showing what you’ve missed and pinpointing people of interest in chat threads - these are just a handful of its functions.

Copilot integrates with everyday business tools like Teams, Excel and PowerPoint to perform these actions, which has several key benefits:

  • Quicker follow-ups
Within Microsoft Teams, Copilot can deliver meeting summaries, track discussions and suggested actions in real-time and extract insights from chats. It puts an end to trawling through hours-long recordings, capturing the essence of meetings and moving projects forward.
  • Automated insights
In Excel, Copilot analyses trends and generates predictive models in seconds. This makes complex data interpretation more accessible for non-technical users, helping organisations make faster, better-informed decisions.
  • Creative boost
In PowerPoint and Word, users can generate drafts, rephrase existing content and even design slides with simple prompts, helping save time and provide inspiration for high-impact presentations and documents.

Bringing hybrid meetings to the fore

This leads us nicely onto the role Microsoft Teams Rooms play in making workplaces fully operational and productive.

Often confused with Microsoft Teams, a Microsoft Teams Rooms is the physical space that incorporates this software with Microsoft Teams-certified AV hardware. This includes screens, speakers, cameras and mics, equipping meeting spaces of all sizes from small huddle areas to large conference rooms.

Where does intelligent tech come into play? Microsoft Copilot boosts the MTR experience, delivering a unified communication experience with several key uses, including:

  • Proactive scheduling and task assignment
  • Contextual integration with Microsoft 365 apps
  • Enhanced focus through smart camera tracking and voice recognition

MTR and Copilot can be taken to the next level using Microsoft Places, an AI-powered workplace app, to enable true flexibility for work. Microsoft Places helps users connect more easily in person so they can make the most of in-office days and optimises space management with occupancy and utilisation data.

The new Microsoft Places Proof of Value Kit makes the hybrid workplace setup smoother than ever. It’s designed to simplify onboarding and help organisations benefit from all the functionality Microsoft Places has to offer.

From data to insights in minutes with reasoning agents

Looking beyond meetings, another pro of AI in the workplace is its analysis and deep reasoning abilities, providing complex strategic support to businesses of all sizes.

Agent use is skyrocketing, with 81% of leaders saying they expect agents to be moderately or extensively integrated into their company’s AI strategy in the next twelve to eighteen months.

As of Monday 2nd June, Microsoft has announced two first-of-their-kind reasoning agents: Researcher and Analyst, designed to save time and resources specifically for work. Everyone with a Microsoft 365 Copilot license can now access these agents to streamline their complex analytical work in mere minutes.

To go into more detail, Researcher helps users tackle multi-step research at work, delivering insights with greater quality and accuracy. It combines OpenAI’s deep research model with Microsoft 365 Copilot’s advanced orchestration and deep search capabilities.

Those given early access to this model used it to:

  • Assess the impact of tariffs on business lines
  • Prepare for vendor negotiations
  • Gather client insights ahead of sales calls

Analyst converts raw data to insights in minutes. Built on OpenAI’s o3-mini reasoning model and optimised for data analysis at work, Analyst uses chain-of-thought reasoning to progress through problems iteratively, refining its reasoning and providing answers that mimic human analytical thinking.

Those given early access to this model used it to:

  • Figure out how discounts affect customer behaviour
  • Identify top customers who aren’t fully using products they’ve purchased
  • Visualise usage trends and inform go-to-market decisions

With agent use on the rise, Microsoft Copilot couldn’t be better placed to support efficient, streamlined business processes in 2025.
