Multi award-winning global tech company Midwich, with its head office in Diss, Norfolk is delighted to announce another successful fundraising initiative for its charity partner, Mind. Throughout November and December, 24 members of the Midwich team volunteered to work in their local Mind charity shop in Diss, Norfolk, and gave nearly 100 hours of their time during working hours.
The build up to Christmas is the busiest time in the shop and so the Midwich volunteers have been very welcome. The shop receives a huge amount of donations at this time of year and the Midwich team has helped with sorting, steaming, pricing and displaying a wide range of stock, as well as creating a festive window display.
The volunteer’s work in the shop taught them new skills, developed new relationships and was extremely motivational. They were all delighted to have helped support such a worthy local cause.
Midwich’s earlier fundraising initiative of asking its employees for donations of unwanted possessions was hugely popular with its team and now the Midwich volunteers have added a further boost to what is set to be a very successful Christmas for Mind.
Sylvia Merriott, retail manager, Mind, commented:
"It has been wonderful to have members of staff from Midwich working at our shop, not just because we processed much more stock, which helps raise more money for Mind, but because it feels like we are being supported by our local community."
Justine Johnston, the shop’s assistant manager commented:
"Having the Midwich volunteers has been a fantastic experience. They have been so enthusiastic and getting this contact with a local company has been very rewarding for us all financially, physically and mentally."
Tracey Spillings, Sales Manager at Midwich and volunteer, commented:
"Our experience at Diss Mind Shop has been a thoroughly rewarding experience. Our work in the shop over the past 4 weeks has taught us new skills, developed new relationships and has been extremely motivational to all. Thank you Diss Mind Shop for giving us this opportunity, we are delighted to have helped support such a worthy cause in our local community."
Helene Beales, Digital Marketing Manager at Midwich and volunteer, commented:
“I was delighted to be given the opportunity to volunteer during work time at the local Mind Charity Shop. Mind is our chosen charity for 2019-2020 and in addition to the various fundraising activities being carried out by Midwich, we have also installed a ‘Donation Station’ in our office. This way Midwich Diss staff can keep our local shop topped up with donations. It was great to see how these donations were sorted and put out into the shop to be sold, raising valuable funds for such a worthwhile cause.”
in 2019, Midwich launched their charity pledge which forms part of their Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) focus. As part of that, the trade-only distributor has committed to raise between £40-50k for the Mind charity throughout 2019-20.
