Tackling Mental Health of employees recognised as key to ongoing success

Mental health issues are a normal part of everyday life and major technology distributor and one of Diss’ largest employers Midwich, have recognised the mental health of their employees as a key component to their ongoing success.

To underline their commitment, two members of their staff Lesa Orford, Midwich HR Manager and Simon Evetts, Head of UK Facilities & Health and Safety have both qualified as 'Mental Health First Aiders' for the company.

The course was run by Rosedale Funeral Home Training Department, a very respected local business. Following successful completion of this course, Lesa and Simon are able to spot the early signs of a mental health issue, feel confident in how to offer and provide initial help to a person experiencing a mental health issue and guide someone towards appropriate treatment and other sources of help.

DID YOU KNOW? In any one year approximately one in four people experience at least one diagnosable mental health issue and the World Health Organisation forecasts that by 2030 depression will be the single leading cause of the global burden of disease.  The long-standing stigma around mental ill health means that many people have a limited understanding of mental health.
