Ambient light rejecting surfaces filter away unwanted light, while leaving the projected image clearly visible. There is the possibility to add contrast for clarity too when installing in highlight areas, which in the past would need to have been darkened. This can lead to the possibility of lower brightness projectors achieving the same result with obvious costs savings.
