Professional guide

Displays will be the centre of attention if England progress past the group stage. Around 50,000 pubs are open today in the UK. With BT Sport and Sky Sports vying for viewers year-round, the World Cup isn't the only reason to install 4K screens, as other sports fixtures in 4K with Dolby Atmos are also available.

Professional Guide

The opportunity is not just for pubs though. Sports fixtures are broadcast in 4K in hotels and sports and social clubs too. With approximately 22,000 hotels, motels, and guest houses in the UK, the market is significant.

Consumer guide

The 2006 World Cup was broadcast in HD in the UK only a few months after the initial trials of the technology. Therefore, although FIFA and HBS will only reveal broadcast plans closer to the tournament, there is a likelihood that matches will be available in 4K (UHD/Ultra HD) and potentially Dolby Atmos.

Consumer Guide

As it stands, BT Sport and Sky are already showing football games in 4K, including World Cup Qualifiers, with accompanying Dolby Atmos sound where available. This is certainly an exciting (albeit busy) time to be selling consumer TVs!
