The XEED WUX10 also allows projection from the latest High-Resolution 16:10 aspect ratio PCs, without compression or panning of the desktop image, and it is capable of displaying Full 1080p HD video.

The XEED SX60, SX80, SX6, and SX7 models offer a native SXGA+ (1400 x 1050) resolution to project pin-sharp, highly detailed images.The SXGA+ resolution can project 3.1 times the display area of SVGA and 1.9 times the area of XGA to clearly display large amounts of detailed information,such as multiple PC windows, simultaneously. For users needing bright, seamless images without SXGA+ resolution, the XEED X700 is the world�s first XGA resolution LCOS projector, offering a new level of quality at an XGA price point.

Philips Blu-ray demos

Philips shows 3D over existing infrastructures with 3D IPTV, 3D VoD and 3D on Bluray demos at IBC 2008 Amsterdam, The Netherlands � Philips will demonstrate 3D IPTV, 3D VoD (Video-on-Demand) and 3D on Blu-ray at IBC 2008 (September 12 � September 16). Each of the three demos will show how the company�s 2D-plus-Depth content format can be distributed easilyover existing content distribution infrastructures and play-out devices, enabling a great 3D movie viewing experience on a variety of 3D displays in the home.

First off, Philips will show a technology demonstration of 3D on Blu-ray Disc, where its content format is applied to Blu-ray to bring high quality 3D content to the home (as shown at the IFA in Berlin).

Secondly, in cooperation with the leading telecommunications operator Telefónica, the 3D IPTV technology demonstration will show 3D Video on Demand over an IP infrastructure. Imagenio is the TV platform which Telefónica uses to deliver TV by IP and ADSL in Spain, Czech Republic, Chile and Brazil, providing straightforward TV channels, VoD, and interactive services to 700000 subscribed users. Raúl Ortega del Rio, Director of Telefónica Research & Development: �The Imagenio 3D IPTV VoD demonstration is the first worldwide experience that provides 3D TV, without the need for viewing glasses, integrated in a standard IPTV solution, and supported by a standard network. A key novelty is that the solution devised only takes up 15 percent more bandwidth. Unlike other systems which utilize 100 percent more bandwidth.� Obviously, 3D displays are needed to experience the 3D effects.

Thirdly, Philips will show 3D VoD using the eventIS metadata system on the booth (4.C50) of this leading Dutch metadata management software solution company. Philips 3D Solutions provides end-to-end 3D system solutions ranging from 3D displays for professional use, 3D content creation and conversion tools to technology licensing. Jos Swillens, CEO of Philips 3D Solutions: �Easy distribution of 3D content over existing infrastructures will be the key factor for the success of 3DTV. Our demos at IBC 2008 provethe flexibility and efficiency of our 2D-plus-Depth content format that will eventually enable 3D viewing in people�s homes.�

Alongside these demos, Philips 3D Solutions will be showing four 3D display products for professional use, the 52�, the 42�, the 22� and the 8�. The impressive 132� 3D WOWzone will also be on show again at IBC 2008 (special booth 10F.60). The Philips booth is located in the Europe Hall 1, booth 1.A81 of the RAI in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Ricoh launch at Midwich!

Midwich has announced a strategic partnership with Ricoh UK to distribute its range of desktop printers, as part of the vendor�s ongoing growth plans in this market and development of the distribution channel.

Ricoh has joined forces with Midwich to enhance its reseller base and take advantage of the distributor�s established routes to market in the desktop print sector. This follows a campaign by Ricoh to increase awareness of its award-winning desktop printers over the past six months and is part of its multi-million pound investment in the space.

To complement the established Gel range and further enhance its SOHO and SME offering, Ricoh has launched a total of seven new colour laser printers/desktop laser based MFDs and five Gel based printers/desktop based MFDs since January 2008.

Epson revolutionises its large venue installation projectors

Epson has introduced new technology, new functionality and a sleek new look to its large installation projectors with the introduction of its G5000 series. The new projectors combine superior installation flexibility and control with outstanding image quality.

Graeme Davidson, Product Manager at Epson UK commented: �The G5000 series represents the next stage in the evolution of installation projectors. This new range totally replaces Epson�s products in this category, incorporating a range of Epson innovations and offering outstanding performance, flexibility and versatility.�

The new G5000 projectors are among the brightest in the industry, boasting up to 5000 ANSI lumens to ensure clarity and quality even in large, light environments such as lecture halls and auditoriums. Weighing less than 7 kg and with a centre lens, the G5000 range offer outstanding flexibility during installation and maintenance. With five optional lenses, complemented by lens shift capability enabling screen adjustments of up to 60 percent vertically and 10 percent horizontally, the projector can adapt to any environment.

A range of intelligent and practical design features reflect Epson�s experience and understanding of the projector marketplace. The control panel is located at the rear of a sleek new chassis, rather than at the top of the unit, which allows easy setup and adjustment with the projector already ceiling mounted. A discreet and seamless cable cover is included to hide unsightly wires and connection points. The modular lenses are bayonet-mounted, so can be quickly and easily changed;especially useful for the rental market, and the filter can be easily and safely removed, cleaned or replaced in seconds from the front of the projector.

Lamp-life has been extended to 3000 operational hours and our redesigned electrostatic filter is both highly efficient and long-lasting.�

The EB-G5100 and EB-G5150 are the range�s standard XGA 4000 ANSI lumens models, whilst the EB-G5300 and EB-G5350 provide a 5000 ANSI lumens equivalent. The G-5200W boasts WXGA capacity to create a widescreen image at 1280 x 800 resolution. Widescreen dimensions offer increased lateral screen space, ensure accurate replication of modern widescreen laptops and PC�s and are ideal for showing high definition(720p) video.

Epson EMP Monitor software, included with the G5000 series, allows the projector to be configured and operated remotely over a network. Users can take control and monitor the status of the projector from any work station on the network, allowing projector errors, lamp issues and internal temperatures to be monitored centrally. This significantly reduces the time required for maintenance checks,ensuring cost-effective system management.

Epson�s innovative EasyMP^®technology has been incorporated in the EB-G5150 and the EB-G5350 offering enhanced network functionality and multi-screen display. This allows up to four projectors to be used to present from just one computer wirelessly, creating larger, panoramic or split-screen displays. This is ideal for presentations to larger audiences or where a range of supporting information needs to be displayed simultaneously.

Connectivity is further enhanced with USB and SD card slot, which allows PC free projection of presentations and other multimedia content directly from USB keys and SD cards. The EB-G5350 and EB-G5150 series supports most file formats including videos in MPEG2, MPEG4 and WMV, meaning content can be downloaded and played directly. Furthermore, data can be saved and edited on an SD card connected to the projector using the network connection � a feature of particular use when the projector is ceiling mounted.

The EB-G5150 and EB-G5350 are also certified for use with Windows Vista^TMNetwork Projector function. This function ensures the projector can be connected wirelessly within a seconds from the Windows Vista� Start menu without the need to install any applications or drivers.
